Has a lot of weird racism which brings down the couple glimmers of interesting concepts straight down. Craig Zehler ☆☆☆☆☆- 0Ī very messy ‘idea’ book that struggles to define itself. Despite being, in theory, professionally edited, there’s a lot of problems in the text which make it a slow and boring read.Ĭorpus Chrome, Inc, S. Small press, now out of print due to author controversyĪ messy, too-long, too-sloppy sci-fi tale about a group of six diverse teens who have to learn Aliens Are People Too… taken out of print because of sexual assault charges against the author.Ī fat book in need of a giant edit- I’m talking at least 30,000 words. Torturous and painful, with an incredible lack of understand of grammar and basic writing skill for a grown man.Ī regressive, badly written book that reads like some dredged up fanfiction for a manga you’ve never read. Self-published, then published via author’s own small press I define indie as ‘books from small presses/independent authors’, mixed with a little ‘obscure and undiscovered books not generally sold in stores (but perhaps once were)’. Critical to the success of his mission are two colleagues who served under him when he commanded the Starship Stargazer-Pug Joseph, a man with a past to live down, and Doctor Carter Greyhorse, who has served time for attempted murder-as well as a Romulan who left his people years earlier and never expected to return. Starfleet has no recourse but to send in another team to try to save the Kevrata-and Picard is the natural choice. Kevratas is a bleak, frozen world on the far side of the Romulan Neutral Zone where the Federation has become the plague-ravaged natives’ only real hope of survival and freedom. And he has hardly resigned himself to his loss when he learns that Beverly has been declared missing in action on a distant planet-and presumed dead. Though, for one reason or another, Picard never acted on his feelings, he found a measure of contentment as Beverly’s close friend, colleague, and daily breakfast partner.īut when Doctor Crusher leaves her position on the Enterprise to become the chief medical officer of Starfleet, the brightest light in Picard’s life is taken from him. Long before Captain Jean-Luc Picard took command of the legendary Starship Enterprise™, he fell deeply and hopelessly in love with Doctor Beverly Crusher. Destinies are shattered, the Romulan Empire is shaken to its core, and Jean Luc-Picard’s life is changed forever in this Star Trek: The Next Generation novel. Every book in this series could have been half (maybe two-thirds?) as long as it ended up to be. There weren't the jaw-droppingly shocking (shocking because it's just bad writing) reversals of plotlines in this book.like the ones in Troy Denning's "Vortex." And Boba Fett shows up in "Conviction", even if he doesn't have a large role in the story.Īs is the usual in these books, the subplots clog up the book a lot of the time. And that's quite a compliment coming from me. It's not wonderful, but it's better than the last two books of his I read in this series. "Conviction," the seventh book in the "Fate of the Jedi" series is another book by Aaron Allston I didn't loathe. Ĭlement-Davies lived in the Andalusia region of Spain, and in London. Boyer follows the Norse versions of these elements closely without much deviation. Her stories are characterized by elements like light and dark elves, dwarves, trolls, sorcerers, ley lines, burial mounds, and wizards. While Norse myths influenced fantasy, including authors like Tolkien and Lewis, Boyer's works followed them more closely than other writers. Her work is deeply influenced by Norse mythology, and set in a fantasy world with a similar climate and geography as the Scandinavia of Norse myths. īoyer is considered an early contributor to the mass-market fantasy genre and a contemporary of Niel Hancock. She lives on a farm near Atlanta and no longer writes. Career īoyer studied English literature and Scandinavian mythology at Brigham Young University. The decision to move forward so quickly reflects a court strategy discussed in this case document, which provides the legal arguments for having the appellate court determine (a) whether the termination of copyright was indeed valid and (b) which Superman works the Siegels recaptured.įrom the Siegel perspective, triggering an appeal on these select issues is a counterstrike to a revitalized DC offensive. What may seem even more surprising is the party that called for an expedited review before all of the issues in the case were resolved: none other than the remaining Siegel heir, Laura Siegel Larson herself. The timing of this appeal is somewhat unusual, given the fact that a number of issues in the case remain unresolved. An appeal of the Siegel’s recapture of the copyright is now on the docket of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, with briefing set for November through January. The landmark federal district court decisions awarding the Siegel heirs half of the copyright in early Superman material were indeed historic, but they were not the end of the story. A mysterious appeal, Joe Shuster’s super-swastika and the final crisis of the legal multiverse–this one has it all. For an explanation and a sneak preview of Morrison’s new book, click below. Morrison’s upcoming Supergods holds the key to understanding why. Violet had fallen in love with New Orleans while on holiday with the girls, so much so that up sticks moved there to start a new life.Įight years on & her world was falling down around her, loosing her home & business she so much loved, that she coulnd't see herself doing anything else. This is my 1st vampire & time travel book i have read, & i thoroughly enjoyed this part 1 from the very 1st page. This is definitely a story you wanna check out if your into PNR or erotica with some sexy vamps. I absolutely love the cover as well, I think it's beautiful. I loved the New Orleans setting with the old magic and regal feel that you get. Rose Wynters has done a great job with this new series, it really stands apart from her other works. Even though these two don't know each other, their choices effect each others future, because it is entwined. This book is divided between Violet and our mystery vampires' point of view which stokes the fire. The Vampire's House of Pleasure was fantastic because it left me both intrigued and desperately wanting more. She has no idea that her world is going to shatter suddenly propelling her into a whole different life. She's settled in the exotic and historic city of New Orleans where the darkness holds more than lovers trying to capture a romantic moment together. Violet has finally found her place in this world and at the young age of 28 there is nowhere else she wants to be. This was probably the most anticipated ‘Kate Daniels’ instalment, because so much happened at the end of #3 ‘Magic Strikes’. SPOILERS for the last 3 books, minor spoilers for ‘Magic Bleeds’. Once again I've needed sub-headings to aid my muddled reviewer brain. This is the 4th book in Ilona Andrews’s ‘Kate Daniels’ series. Because this time, Kate will be taking on family… This foe may be too much even for Kate and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, to handle. One who’s been around for thousands of years-and rode to war at the side of Kate’s father. When she’s called in to investigate a fight at the Steel Horse, a bar midway between the territories of the shapeshifters and the necromancers, Kate quickly discovers there’s a new player in town. Unofficially, she cleans up the paranormal problems no one else wants to handle-especially if they involve Atlanta’s shapeshifting community. Kate Daniels works for the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, officially as a liaison with the mercenary guild. But then technology returns, and the magic recedes as unpredictably as it rose. When the magic is up, rogue mages cast their spells and monsters appear, while guns refuse to fire and cars fail to start. Atlanta would be a nice place to live, if it weren’t for the magic.
